We are now looking forward to the 2012 races. There will be no changes to our format or rules. We will be accepting birds starting March 15th thru July 1st. We hope to fill both races (300 birds each). Perch fee is due with the shipment of the birds. Thanks to all that have supported our races in the past and we are looking forward to meeting and seeing many new faces this year. Word of mouth is the best advertising we can have. San Diego is the home of the "Best Week of Pigeon Racing in the Country". Good luck to all!

We will have prize distribution on the message board Saturday morning. Good Luck
We didn't train today due to extremely high winds in the mountains. The weather looks much better for training tomorrow. We are going 70 miles Wed. Shipping for Superbird and Mega is 10:00 on Friday morning.
Amad took the Classic birds 55 miles today, they did well. He took the Holiday Cup birds to El Centro which is @ 100 miles and they all came in one drop in 2 hr. 10 min. There will be another shorter toss on Tuesday and possibly Wednesday. SHIPPING FOR SUPERBIRD/MEGA WILL BE FRIDAY DEC. 9 AT 10:00. EVERYBODY WELCOME TO COME AND HANKLE YOUR BIRD(S). TRIPLE CROWN, CALIF. CLASSIC, HOLIDAY CUP, AND CLASSIC BIRDS ALL SHIPPED TOGETHER. RELEASE POINT, TUCSON AZ., 350 MI.
The races went well, good speeds, @1470 in Holiday Cup and @1390 in Classic. 14 birds on 1st drop at Holiday Cup and 7 for the Classic. Returns were pretty good in Holiday Cup, @60% however the Classic was much tougher. We have@ 40 birds home from Classic. Very strong winds on the desert proved to be difficult for the birds, even though first 2 groups did well. If you are interested in activating your bird for the Superbird and Mega races the entry for the Superbird will be $200 and Mega $100. Call me for info, Steve Miner 619-933-8188
THE SAN DIEGO CLASSIC RACE IS ON! BIRDS RELEASED AT 6:30, CLEAR AND CALM. NORTH WINDS, 10-15 ALONG COURSE, NORTHEAST WINDS, 10-20 THE LAST 50 MILES. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYBODY!!
The Holiday Cup Race is today!! Birds are released at 7:00 from Casa Grande, Az., 310 mi. The release point is clear and calm, beautiful morning. It looks like a little north wind along the course, 5-7mph. There are 122 birds. Good Luck to everybody
Due to weather considerations we are going 50 miles today, @ 80-100 miles tomorrow, Tuesday, and 40-50 miles on Wednesday with the Classic birds. Weather looks good until Thursday and then good again for the Classic Race on Saturday. Holiday Cup birds will be loft flown today and ship for race tomorrow night. Good luck!
Updated information: Yesterday, Saturday we took the Holiday Cup birds 45 miles however we had a human error (mine) so they didn't get up on website. We will be doing a clocking inventory this morning. The weather has improved so we will be taking the Classics tomorrow, Monday, hopefully @ 150 mi. Good luck to everybody. See you soon!
The weather did not allow us to train on Friday, low fog and clouds the last 25 miles on the course. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday look like rain and bad weather. Therefore at this time we are planning on training the Classic birds @ 100 miles on Tuesday and @50 miles on Wednesday. The weather looks good for the Holiday Cup on Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing a lot of friends this week, welcome to San Diego. Not sure about Sunny San Diego!!!
The results of the Holiday Cup 200 are on the race list icon on the website. It was a good race, 10 birds missing after 2nd day. The SD Classic training toss on Monday had 29 birds out after 1st day. We had to disconnect clock for the Tuesday race. We will do a clocking inventory for the Classic tomorrow that will show what birds came home the 2nd or 3rd day. We will have one more long toss for the Classic birds prior to the race. Weather for this weekend does not look good. 30-40% chance of rain on Sat. and Sunday. Weather for next week looks good at this point. Good luck to all!
Todays toss for the Holiday Cup was turned out in 2 groups. Tomorrow, Monday 11/14, the Classic birds will be going 135. Shipping for Holiday Cup 200 will be MONDAY night at 6:00. Everybody welcome to handle their birds. The race will be Tuesday. The races are coming soon, hope to see everybody in San Diego in a week or so. Good luck.
The Classic birds went 75 miles on Tuesday, we couldn't clock them in on the same day as the Holiday Cup race. Today we took the Classic birds 100 miles and @ 160 birds came in the first drop. It was very fast and a good toss. The results are on the training page. The weather doesn't look good for the weekend so we are planning on shipping the Holiday Cup birds on MONDAY NIGHT, 6:00 for the 185 race on Tuesday. Classic birds will be going 135 next toss, either Monday or Tuesday. Looking forward to the races in 2 weeks!!
We are shipping for the 135 tonite at 6:00 at the clubhouse. However due to weather we are not racing until Tuesday. Everybody is welcome to come and handle your birds tonight. They will be put back in loft and exercised on Sunday, with the race Tues. The clocking inventory on the website is what is in the loft. Good luck
The 75 mile toss for the Classic birds was awesome, @ 150 in the first drop. All 194 clocked in. The birds listed after 194 are Holiday Cup birds from yesterday. After all the Classic birds clocked in we changed the clock over to the Holidays. There were several Holiday Cup birds from yesterday that had already got home earlier in the morning. We will have a Holiday Cup clocking inventory tomorrow and that will be our shipping list for Saturdays shipping for Sunday race. We will be going only 135 miles for the first race. Shipping is at 6:00 Saturday night at the clubhouse.
Yesterday's 100 mi. toss for the Holiday Cups was released at 7:30, not 7:05 as shown on training page. It proved to be a little tough, out 20 birds over night, I'm sure we will get more home this morning. We have to switch the clock to the Classic birds this morning, 75 mile toss. So we will have a clocking inventory for the Holiday Cup birds either Friday evening or Sat. morning that we will use as our shipping list for the race Sunday. Again shipping for the, probably will be 135 instead of 150, is 6:00 Sat. night at the clubhouse.
Today, sunday Oct. 30, the Classic birds went 55 miles again. Almost all in the drop, great day. We apologize the Classic results are not on training page. We are having difficulty with the antennas in the Classic loft. Hopefully will be fixed soon. The Holidays also came in a big drop and 2 went down and in right away before the rest got scared up by a hawk. Several birds flew for a while. @ 115 on the drop. Weather once again was great, clear all the way.
Once again the clocking for the Classic birds malfuctioned. The Classics went 55 mi. today and had a great toss, almost all in drop together, one hour flat. The Holiday Cup 75 mi. toss results are on the training page.
Once again the clocking for the Classic birds malfuctioned. The Classics went 55 mi. today and had a great toss, almost all in drop together, one hour flat. The Holiday Cup 75 mi. toss results are on the training page.
Yesterday, Thursday the Classic birds went 50 miles and had a great toss, however the clock wasn't set by mistake. Today, Friday, both the Holidays and Classics are going. The Holidays are going 70 mi. and the Classics are going 55 mi. Weather has been great yesterday and looks great today. Steve
No toss today, still thunderstorms in mountains, will resume training tomorrow thru the weekend. The clock for the Holiday Cup 70 mi. toss got turned off yesterday afternoon, if any more birds return we will post numbers on the message board. All entry forms for the Holiday Cup are mailed out and due by Friday, Nov. 4. Any questions call me at 619-933-8188, Steve MIner.
Today's 70 mile toss for the Holiday Cup birds was released at 8:00, not 9:00. It's 11:00 AM right now, looks like will be a tough toss. Ahmad said birds coming in looking spooky, maybe falcon hit them? Also the zip code for Wayne Herron on the mailouts for the Holiday Cup entries is wrong, it should be 92019!!!!!
Yesterday, 10/19 we had a Classic toss again, birds came good, had to release at 10:45 because of socked in weather. Today, 10/20 no toss, Holidays will be going tomorrow. We got 2 more back from Holiday toss last Sunday, will put band # on message board as soon as I get them from Amad.
Today's toss was with the Classic birds, once again we had socked in weather until @ 10:00-10:30. Ahmad turned them out at 10:00 and had a pretty good toss, 196/205 when I wrote this update,4:00. We got 3 more birds home today from the Holiday Cup toss on Sunday, SLI 1517, TOP 116, and VG 123.
Today's toss for the Holiday Cups has proved to be tough. We have to wait for the marine layer to burn off the last 20 mi. therefore we have to release later when we have the low cloud no sun mornings. Today we released at 10:15 and it got somewhat hot in the mountains and there was 15-20 head winds. Right now we have 150/215 home, I suspect we will get alot more this evening and tomorrow morning. No training scheduled for tomorrow. Follow results on training page.
On yesterday's toss for the Classics we clocked in 198 which means we were out 12 not 18 and we 3 or 4 trapped in this morning. Today's toss, Friday 10/14, for the holiday cup birds was from Jacumba, 55 miles. All results are on training page.
Today's toss, Thur. 10/13, was the Classic Birds only. They were up early, 7:15, but got broken up and we are out @ 18 birds, hopefully more will be home in the morning.
Sunday 10/9 the Holiday Cup birds went 45 miles, gppd toss, 221 clocked in and 2 stayed home. Yesterday, 10/10 the Classics went 20 miles and 210 clocked in, out 4 or 5. Today Holiday Cups are going 50 miles, Classics are staying home. All results are on training page.
The birds are doing great, the results can be found on training page. I'm sure most of you have figured out we have to put Holidays and Classics on same training result page. The Holiday Cup birds are going by themselves today, 40 mile toss. The Classics are getting the day off, they are out 20 miles and doing well. The last toss we had 438 clock in and we will get a count on exactly how many Holiday Cup birds on today's toss. I believe there are 211 Holidays and 227 Classics. Good luck the rest of the way. We will be sending out entry sheets for Holiday races in the next couple weeks.
We've had a couple rainy days, Tues. and Wed. so training will start back on either Thr. or Fri. The Classic birds are @ 10 miles behind the Holidays. Classics have been coming good as well as Hoidays since that bad toss last week. Continue to check website for training results.
If you checked the training page today you know the training result didn't register. 99% sure it has been corrected and the results for tomorrow's training will be there. Today's tosses went well, both the Holiday's and Classics went today. First toss for Classic and @ 10 miles for Holidays. Steve 619-933-8188
Training has started with the Holiday Cup birds. They have had 4-5 tosses, the first 2 the birds beat Ahmad back then the 3rd toss was very different. The first ones came 2-3 at a time from all directions, after and hour there was a drop of @100 and then after 2 hrs. another big drop 50-60 birds. Birds straggled in and then @20-25 came the next morning. We estimated we dropped 20-25 birds. The Classic birds will start training this week. The mornings have been very overcast, not clearing until 11:00-12:00. The results of the training will be on website within a week. Any questions contact Steve Miner, 619-933-8188 or sminervangruen@aol.com
Training has started with the Holiday Cup birds, the SD Classic birds will start training in about a week. We've had 2 short tosses and they did great. Most of them kept flying and routing when they got home. We will have the results of the training tosses on the website by the end of this week. Any questions, call Steve Miner-619-933-8188.

Hope to see everybody in November for another great year. "The Best Week of Pigeon Racing in the Country"
Birds are coming in regularly, we now have @170 birds in each race. Health is good, we have had a couple hawk problems and will be taking inventory after the Memorial Day weekend. Seems like all birds are back in loft, a few out over-night. We plan on pulling 9th and 10th second week in July. If birds are very young we will not pull flights. All birds are PMV'D on arrival and all will be poxed when flights are pulled. Any questions contact Steve Miner, 619-933-8188 of sminervangruen@aol.com.

Ahmad is doing a great job as usual, keep the birds coming. Thanks to those that have sent birds already and we have many birds already committed for the next month.
